I'm Jon-Paul, Vice President of the contract division and based out of our Austin office. I am one of the founding members of Piper Maddox.
I have over 12 years’ experience in contract recruitment. I spent my first 3 years in the UK supporting the public sector across multiple disciplines. I moved to the US in 2011 where I worked in the fossil fuel industry, building out engineering, commissioning and construction teams. After moving to and spending 12 months in South Korea to head up an international operation, I moved back to the US to join Piper Maddox where I am responsible for all delivery and growth aspects of our contract provision. We support clients ranging from EPC’s to owners and developers to OEM’s to build out site-based project and execution teams, and supplement their technical workforce with highly skilled, temporary workers.
Why Piper Maddox and the clean energy sector?
The first thing that attracted me to Piper Maddox and LHi was the value system that runs through the DNA of the organization. Piper Maddox are first and foremost a people business and this is reflected in how the organization engages with our clients and candidates. As someone who values human interaction very highly, this deeply resonated with me.
Having worked in the oil & gas industry through the most recent downturn, it was extremely disheartening to see how quickly organizations put profit and shareholder return above people and that inspired me to look for an industry that genuinely cared about what it was trying to achieve. Renewable energy is exactly that. It’s very easy to say that I care about the environment, and that is why I chose to work for Piper Maddox, but it’s so much more than that.
We should care about the environment, that is a given, but what I was motivated to be a part of was an industry that was all pulling the same way, to solve what might just be the greatest challenge we have faced as a species. It gives me so much pleasure to connect with people who share the same vision of a sustainable future for the world.
Ultimately, my goal for Piper Maddox as a business is to be recognized as a key conduit for enabling the ongoing proliferation of renewable and clean energy across the US and beyond. I want to be seen as a genuinely valued partner who is connecting the industries top talent with the most ambitious and forward thinking organizations and to play any part possible in ensuring my daughter, her peers, their sons and daughters and all future generations have the same place to call home that we have.
Being named after John Lennon (and my dad), and a guitar player, I wish I had the ability to change the world through the power of music, but alas, I’ve had to settle for something far more practical. Outside of that I am a proud new father of a beautiful baby girl, and I am a 4 handicap golfer.
