Piper Maddox is proud to be supporting a leading fully electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft company based in Bristol, in search of a Senior Flight Control Laws Engineer. For the last ten years, this company has been developing groundbreaking aircraft designed to deliver fast, efficient, and sustainable air mobility. Their focus on creating zero-emission aircraft and its investment into advanced technology has resulted in partnerships with major airlines and Aerospace tier 1 suppliers. They are now seeking a Senior Flight Control Laws engineer to join a team of 5 people covering all aspects of FCL for its aircraft. It will be a broad role covering control law specification, design, test and certification.


As a Senior Flight Control Laws Engineer, you will:

* Lead the design and development of control laws using MATLAB and Simulink as primary tools.
* Collaborate across teams to align control law functionality with aircraft systems.
* Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering knowledge-sharing practices.
* Conduct validation and verification activities, analysing simulation and test results.
* Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and certification processes.


The experience we are looking for:

* 8+ years of Flight Control Law design and verification experience
* Experience in nonlinear dynamic inversion or traditional flight control law design.
* Familiarity with software and certification standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-331).
* Ideally someone with knowledge of fixed-wing rotorcraft dynamics
