Piper Maddox are working with a brilliant IPP who are seeking an experienced Head of O&M to oversee the operation and maintenance of its growing UK solar PV portfolio currently standing at 500MW. This is a key leadership position, responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of operational assets while driving continuous improvement in technical and financial outcomes.

The Head of O&M will take full accountability for portfolio performance, leading a multidisciplinary engineering and field operations team to deliver excellence across safety, reliability, and profitability. This includes optimising energy yield, minimising downtime, and ensuring full compliance with all statutory, contractual, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the O&M team across all operational solar sites.
  • Oversee maintenance, performance monitoring, and fault response
  • Monitor asset performance through SCADA and data analysis to maximise yield.
  • Drive predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and supplier performance to achieve cost and margin targets.
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and environmental legislation.
  • Support strategic initiatives in digitalisation, innovation, and operational efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience managing O&M for utility-scale solar PV or power generation assets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HV systems up to 132kV, SCADA, and grid operations.
  • Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary technical teams and contractors.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L performance.
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational background.
