Grid Specialist – Project Development

International Renewable Energy Company | Solar PV & BESS

Location: Rome (Hybrid working available)
Salary: €50,000 – €55,000

An exciting opportunity for a Grid Specialist to join an international renewable energy company leading the development of large-scale solar PV and BESS projects across Italy and Europe.

This role sits within the Project Development team, and you will have the opportunity to focus on grid connection management and technical coordination activities to ensure timely and compliant grid connections for ongoing renewable energy projects.

With a strong growth strategy, the company oversees all stages of project development from site identification through to ready-to-build status and, with the capability to secure PPAs and manage the EPC phase. With over 4 GW of projects currently under development, including 2 GW in Italy, the company operates across five countries and has a significant global impact.

Key Responsibilities:

-               Oversee grid connection activities for solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring full compliance with both national and regional grid regulations.

-               Serve as the primary technical liaison with TSOs and DSOs (e.g., Terna, regional operators), leading discussions on connection points, grid standards, and certification requirements.

-               Develop and coordinate grid concept designs, layouts, yield assessments, and supporting technical documentation to facilitate permit applications and project approvals.

-               Work closely with internal stakeholders including developers, engineers, and project managers to align grid strategies with permitting objectives and ensure smooth project execution.

Your Profile:

-               Degree qualified (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.

-               At least 5 years of experience in grid connection engineering or renewable project development within the solar PV and/or BESS sectors.

-               Strong knowledge of Italian grid connection procedures, including engagement with Terna and regional DSOs, as well as familiarity with grid codes, interconnection standards, and permitting processes.

-               Excellent communication skills with fluency in Italian and English.
