A leading national energy advisory team is looking for a Business Development Manager to support growth across its energy procurement services. This group helps commercial and industrial clients navigate power and gas markets, reduce costs and risk, and improve budget certainty.

This role focuses on proactive outreach, lead generation, and early-stage deal management. You’ll engage prospective clients, build a qualified pipeline, coordinate with internal teams, and support the sales process from first contact through handoff to senior sales leads. The environment is fast-paced and entrepreneurial, with opportunities to learn the fundamentals of energy procurement and broader energy market strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive outbound outreach through cold calls, email campaigns, and LinkedIn engagement to generate qualified leads.

  • Research and identify target accounts; analyze utility footprints and energy usage to prioritize outreach.

  • Qualify inbound leads and referrals; conduct discovery conversations to understand client energy needs.

  • Support early deal stages, including needs assessments, preliminary pricing, proposal coordination, and data gathering.

  • Maintain accurate pipeline activity in CRM systems, including forecasting and reporting.

  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitive activity to inform outreach strategy.

  • Prepare introductory presentations and support client meetings alongside senior sales professionals.

  • Collaborate with analysts, operations staff, and sales leadership to ensure smooth internal handoffs and deal progression.

Required Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years in sales, business development, account management, or related functions.

  • Demonstrated success with cold calling and outbound prospecting.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across varied stakeholder groups.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM tools (Salesforce or similar).

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with deregulated energy markets or energy procurement is a plus.

  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-moving, start-up-like environment.

They are looking to hire a Senior Development Manager to their team who will take on a mix of project focused and leadership responsibilities.
