Piper Maddox has partnered with an America-based battery firm developing cutting edge energy storage technology for transportation, utility grid, and industrial markets. The Battery BMS Manager will be responsible for all battery software and related hardware development.

Responsibilities:

§  Design, implement and test cutting-edge algorithms for run-time BMS logic to derive State-of-Charge, State-of-Health, State-of-Power and State-of-Energy computations along with corresponding BMS hardware

§  Develop and enhance existing battery models to ensure Real vs. Simulation accuracy

§  Develop complex battery aging model(s) which accurately reflect true cell aging patterns

§  Develop safety-critical BMS control functions such as battery state estimation, fault detection, balancing control, temperature management, battery contactor control and charging control

§  Work with various cross-functional teams to develop requirements for new BMS features, diagnostics, algorithms, etc.Perform FMEA for BMS control software

§  Establish and Support BMS HIL testing

§  Ensures each system change is appropriately approved, then scheduled and reviewed by stakeholders

§  Ensure software release is on time and aligned with company schedule to deliver production ready battery controls software

§  Collaborate with company software infrastructure group on Functional Safety (ISO-26262) activities

§  Manage the day-to-day operation of the engineers responsible for; identifying and tracking the specific assignments, deliverables, and provide an assessment on the progress and outcome of the work

§  Lead employee training and development

§  Internal Program Reporting to management; prepare the results and provide feedback

§  Analyzes data and feedback from the field for possible software algorithm improvement, and participates in root cause analysis efforts as required

§  Adheres to change management and revision control procedures

§  Assists in performing system-specific training for owner / operator of the lithium power system

§  Builds and promotes the company’s “team” philosophy and respects existing cultural boundaries

§  Demonstrates and executes performance in the best interest of company stakeholders, and customers

§  Ensures adherence to company quality management system

§  Interfaces across engineering groups as well as business development and project management teams

§  Keeps management and customers informed of project progress and issues

§  Participates in advanced battery controls development and new concept design teams

§  Participates in code reviews with attention to highlighting any possible problem areas, as well as offering possible solutions to address issues

§  Participates in internal and customer design concept reviews

§  Participates in manufacturing test specification and design

§  Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction

§  Proactively works with development teams and manufacturing to ensure a successful product launch

§  Produces technical deliverables with documentation and maintain revision control

§  Travel may be required (~15% travel (domestic/international))

§  Perform other duties assigned

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.

▪      Preferred:

o    B. S. or M.S. degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer or Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited university

o    8+ years of Product Engineering design and development

o    4+ years of developing battery packs

o    2+ years experience leading engineering teams

o    Strong knowledge of of ISO26262 Functional Safety practices and process

o    Strong Technical project management skills and support senior level presentations and project overviews

o    Strong technical, verbal and written skills

o    Self started who can lead a diverse workforce in a hybrid office format

o    Ability to work on high voltage (400, 800, 1200VDC) systems
