Embedded Test Engineer

My client is an E-Mobility startup who are seeking an Embedded Test Engineer to join their team based on the outskirts of London. The company is a forward-thinking startup in the electric vehicles sector, focused on revolutionising sustainable transportation.

Position Overview: The Embedded Software Tester will be a key contributor, responsible for ensuring the reliability and quality of embedded software systems for the company's cutting-edge electric vehicles. Working within a small, close-knit team of engineers and developers, this role will have a direct impact on shaping the future of eco-friendly transportation.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to formulate and implement effective embedded software testing strategies.
* Creating and maintaining comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for various embedded software components.
* Conducting thorough testing on microcontrollers, embedded systems, and vehicle communication networks like CAN.
* Implementing automated testing using established test frameworks, such as Pytest.
* Applying expertise in failure modes, testing failure modes, and conducting failure analysis to enhance software reliability.
* Identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects while working collaboratively with the development team to resolve issues.
* Contributing to the continuous enhancement of testing methodologies and processes.
* Keeping meticulous records of test procedures and outcomes.

Required Skills:
* In-depth knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
* Proficiency in utilising test frameworks, such as Pytest, for efficient automated testing.
* Experience with vehicle communication networks, particularly CAN.
* Programming skills in embedded C or Python.
* Ability to thrive in a startup environment and effectively collaborate within a small team.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.

Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with model-based development and proficiency in tools like MATLAB and Simulink.
* Testing experience of embedded software for xEV components (e.g. BMS, inverters, DC/DC converters, etc.
* Previous exposure to embedded software development
* Familiar with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)
* Experience with source control tools and CI/CD systems
* Genuine interest in electric vehicles and commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

Key Information:
* You must have eligibility to work in the UK
* The role is based at my client's office in Epsom, Surrey
* 2-3 days remote working per week
