​Job Description:

Our client, a F500 leader in Sustainability products, technologies, and services, is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Nature Director to lead and drive critical initiatives related to biodiversity, water, and carbon removals. As the Nature Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our global strategies, aiming for net-zero GHG emissions and biodiversity loss while promoting regenerative practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Define and implement the organization's biodiversity and water strategy and targets on a global scale, encompassing both operational and value-chain aspects.

  • Carbon Removal Strategy: Lead the development of the carbon removal strategy and portfolio approach to align with the organization's net-zero Science-Based Targets.

  • Assessment and Program Implementation: Oversee the assessment of the organization's impact on biodiversity and water. Develop and implement programs that mitigate negative impacts and maximize positive contributions.

  • Governance and Stakeholder Coordination: Structure the governance and deployment of these strategies in close coordination with various stakeholders, including business units, the global supply chain, procurement, and sales channels.

  • Innovative Projects: Identify and initiate innovative pilot projects related to biodiversity and water, potentially envisioning regenerative manufacturing sites.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about biodiversity and water-related regulations in various regions, such as the EU, US, China, India, and others. Monitor external initiatives and frameworks to further develop the organization's approach to biodiversity and water.

  • Progress Tracking: Track progress towards objectives and quantify the overall impact of carbon credits and removals.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and develop stakeholder relationships, including relevant authorities, to advance scientific understanding, support deployment efforts, and enable regenerative businesses.

  • Reporting Compliance: Lead the organization's alignment with reporting regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with standards like the Corporate Sustainability reporting directive (ESRS 3 and 4), GRI, TNFD, and others.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in environmental sciences, biology, ecology, business, or a related field preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainability, biodiversity, water, consulting, or engineering roles.

  • Familiarity with Corporate Sustainability reporting directive (ESRS 3 and 4), GRI, TNFD, etc. is essential.

  • Previous experience in leading programs related to biodiversity, water, or carbon removal in industry, consulting, non-governmental organizations, or multicultural environments is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of environmental law and awareness of upcoming regulations at the EU and US levels

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.

  • Innovative thinking and a strategic mindset.

  • Ability to thrive in multicultural settings and complex environments.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage key stakeholder relationships.

  • Comfort with data, complex problem-solving, and quick learning.

  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.

Travel:

  • Some travel is expected, approximately 30 days per year, within Europe and/or the US, to engage with teams and stakeholders.
