This opportunity is with an energy technology company developing and operating energy storage assets in the United States. They have developed a data-driven process to optimize and limit the risk of early-stage asset development, as well as a software platform and associated AI/ML models, which optimize the dispatch of energy over the life of the energy storage assets. This small and passionate team is composed of independent thinkers who effectively collaborate to develop viable solutions to today’s energy challenges. They are seeking a Permitting Manager to join their growing team in the Tri-State area.

  • Understand the governmental and regulatory landscape at a federal, state and municipal level.

  • Must be able to navigate and manage the permitting process across the authorities.

  • Lead all discretionary permitting activities for a portfolio of C&I energy storage projects in the tri-state area- predominantly New York City.

  • Not required to live in NYC but can’t only be done remote - need to have perception as well as do some field visits from time to time.

  • Create project-specific maps and execution plans for the state and local AHJs, permitting requirements, timelines, risks, costs, and jurisdictional stakeholders and approvals for each project in the pipeline.

  • Set and hold virtual and in-person meetings with key stakeholders at state and local levels to implement discretionary permitting execution plans, building relationships with critical entities and potential advocates.

  • Build, maintain, and manage a network of environmental and legal subcontractors with local expertise to support your efforts in project permitting and securing AHJ approvals.

  • Identify and understand site-specific permitting and jurisdictional risks, evaluate, and communicate those risks to the development team, and develop risk mitigation strategies for each project.
