Piper Maddox are supporting a renowned, innovative and award-winning aviation electrical systems producer that specialise in the design and development of on-board energy systems for the leading aircraft manufacturers and OEMs around the world. The client employs over 80,000 employees worldwide and has a specialist site located near Milton Keynes that focuses on the development of next-generation electric motor and power generation technology for the aerospace sector. After being ranked no.1 in Forbes's 2020 list of the world's best employers for its sector and continuing to lead the group's development of Electric Motor and Generator technologies, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Composites Designer on a permanent basis. The business is looking to develop a strong Composite capability and would like to bring in someone to focus on the design and development of composites. This position could see strong career development into the SME for Composites on site.

As a Senior Composite Design Engineer you will…

* Develop innovative Composite solutions to future Aerospace challenges on existing and next-gen motor and power generation technologies
* Work with Composite suppliers to ensure quality products are being delivered into safety-critical technology for Aircraft
* Build up and grow the Composite capability within the business as they are introducing increasing levels of composite materials to their product
* Manage/support work packages with responsibility over robust composite design (Models, drawings, BOM's etc.) and development processes
* Building strong working relationships throughout the whole company including Operations, Business Development, Supply chain, Quality etc.
* Mentor less experienced engineers to support their development

The Ideal Candidate should have…

* Strong experience in the Mechanical Design and manufacture of Composites (ideally with rotating machinery, however this is not essential)
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex problems through the application of first principles
* Good communication skills and ability to work well with others inside the business and external stakeholders
* Ability to use 3D CAD tools, ideally with Catia V5 or Siemens NX
* Bachelor's Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
