Piper Maddox has been engaged on a confidential search by a top US Solar financier and developer that builds Utility-Scale and C&I Solar projects. This is a truly innovative company that sets its self apart from the traditional solar IPP. This company is 120+ employees and has incredible success in Asset Management, Project Development, Trading, and Fund Management. They have created some incredibly partnerships with a leading international energy infrastructure fund as well as an extremely well know institutional partners.

As a leader in the market, they are continually expanding their market presence and project pipeline. This company has developed and financed 200+ projects totaling over a billion dollars in solar assets and they have managed over $450MM of institutional capital deployed. This company is looking to continue the trend of being a leader in the suitability industry by growing their family.

This organization is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Director of Strategic Procurement to join their Environmental Commodities Management (ECM) team. This person will be in charge of leading the design, development, and implementation of tailored sustainability strategies with corporate, municipal, utility and educational customers. This person will have to develop a business execution strategy, expanding relationships with customers and managing a team. The position is ideal for an experienced professional with business development experience working with customers to procure RECs and other environmental commodities in the renewable energy industry.

This opportunity can be REMOTE with travel to Washington D.C.

The compensation is based off experience, but anywhere from $200,000-$230,000 with a 20-40% bonus. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside our Vice President of ECM to oversee and build our corporate engagement strategy

  • Bring and build a network of strategic relationships with corporate, industrial, municipal, and utility customers

  • Cross-sell additional products and services to the portfolio to deepen customer relationships

  • Manage a team of originators and business development professionals

  • Design and implement procurement strategies with customers to enable them to meet their sustainability goals

  • Collaborate with other members of the ECM team to originate long duration REC contracts to supply RECs and other environmental commodities to

  • Work with the ECM Research Team to manage procurement on behalf of customers

  • Work with IT team to build a client relationship management system and database

  • Work with Enterprise Team to collaborate on holistic solution sets for customers that leverage expertise in tax equity, onsite procurement, and offsite procurement

Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in business development and management

  • Previous experience with corporate sales in energy markets required with those having experience in renewable energy and/or sustainable consulting prioritized

  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of large corporate customers and originating new relationships

  • Previous experience working with client relationship management software

  • Strong background with voluntary RECs and other environmental commodities

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to thoughtfully communicate complex issues and problem-solve within a team
