​Piper Maddox has been engaged with a hard-tech startup located in Santa Barbara, CA, that is developing a technology for decarbonizing natural gas.

The client's hydrogen can be used to decarbonize a wide range of industries including ammonia production, gasoline and diesel fuel, electric generation, process heat, and fuel cell vehicles, and has the potential to address 75% of global CO2 emissions. A very exciting time to join the team!

Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing capital engineering projects. It will oversee both internal and external engineering resources on the projects. The Project Manager will also support planning, financial approval and execution of various projects to drive improvement. Critical hire for their Operations team and will report directly to the VP Operations.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering and 10+ years of related work experience

  • 5+ years of Project management experience specifically in industrial and/or chemical plants.

  • Experience managing pilot plant projects, or projects with a high degree of uncertainty an asset

  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with MS Office, MS Project, or other similar project management software

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment with competing deadlines

  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing

  • Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) processes

  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and/or Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) Experience.

  • Project Management Program (PMP) certificate preferred.

  • Industrial reliability experience.

You Will:

  • Manage capital engineering projects through the various Phases (i.e. Business Case, Concept, Scope, Design, Planning, Approval, and Execution) to progress the scale up.

  • Be fully accountable for objectives, schedule, and budget delivery for all assigned projects, including capital engineering projects for process scale up, and internally focused improvement projects as required.

  • Consult with management and R&D team to formulate and finalize scope and objectives for projects; including, time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources.

  • Develop and expertly execute project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources.

  • Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders internally and externally to drive project success; through the use of project reporting framework and OKRs.

Travel up to 50% to oversee project work on location

Salary range is based on experience $135,000 - $195,000 base.
