A leading player in the Automotive industry is on the hunt for a Software Engineer to join their rapidly expanding Autonomous Vehicles (AV) department.

As an AV Software Engineer, you will focus on writing robust code in C++ and offering advanced solutions for projects in robotics / motion planning & control. The software you'll write will go directly on production ready autonomous vehicles and impact how they decide to drive.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a truly exciting field with an established business who are actively developing a fleet of self-driving vehicles. You will be constantly learning new skills, keeping up to date with the latest technologies, and will gain a sense of personal fulfilment knowing the software you produce is helping to make a positive societal impact.

My client is offering a mostly remote working arrangement for this vacancy. Ideally you will be able to visit the office in Coventry 1-2 times per week, although this can be flexible according to your preferences.

Job Description:
*You will write and maintain high quality software for autonomous driving solutions
*Design and implementing motion planning algorithms and other core modules in C++
*Adhere to high coding standards and actively champion best practice
*Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams to ensure robust implementation of functions in the vehicle.
*You will provide technical content for the product documentation
*Proposing solutions to complex problems that are in keeping with the existing system architecture

*Strong C/C++ background, as well as an understanding of object-oriented programming and design
*Strong knowledge of Linux or Windows OS
*Experience with standard software development practices such as source control, peer reviews, and unit testing.
*Team player who can clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical co-workers.
*Strong ability to design and implement large-scale software projects.
*Self-motivation, with a willingness to learn new technologies on the job
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Experience of Agile development methods (Scrum, test-driven development, etc.)

*Experience in autonomous driving or robotics projects
*Knowledge of Python
*Use of modern version control systems (especially Git)
*Familiar with 3D engines used for simulation - Unreal, Unity, Gazebo etc
*Understanding of perception systems and algorithms (vision, radar, lidar, INS).
