​Piper Maddox has partnered with a global remanufacturing company that has recently acquired a new solar remanufacturing division. This new division is focused on the reverse engineering and remanufacturing of many different solar panels and inverters, and they are looking for an Inverter Remanufacturing Engineer to define the reverse engineering and remanufacturing procedures for various power inverter systems.

You will be the first inverter remanufacturing specialist in this new division at a very well established company. This opportunity provides you the opportunity to become an expert on many inverter systems, but also the opportunity to grow into managerial positions in the near future, at no cost to job stability. This position is based out of their remanufacturing facility in Sparta, TN, with the expectation of being on-site 5 days per week.

You will be responsible for:

  • Product Definition and Design Specification creation for various solar inverter systems

  • Perform teardown analysis and reverse engineering of solar power and other types of off-grid and grid-tie inverters, including design of the power conversion stack, modeling of thermal behavior, modeling of control algorithms, and the ability to develop testing procedures and criteria to validate product performance and life expectancy

  • Develop and Implement inverters remanufacturing process

  • Provide test equipment and specialty tooling requirements

  • Build process documentation control plans, work instructions, PFMEA

  • Provide electrical expertise concerning power conversion and electrical distribution equipment across the functions of design, test, and remanufacturing

You will ideally have:

  • 2-5+ years’ experience in the design and/or testing of power conversion equipment used in solar, wind, or energy storage applications

  • Experience designing or evaluating products for compliance with UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109

  • Experience designing or evaluating products for compliance with North American standards, including NEC

  • Knowledge of general PV system design and factors that impact safety, and performance
