We are looking for a Battery Manufacturing Professional to join a well-backed business that is developing a platform technology that can enable a battery to have high power density and high energy density across a range of markets and applications, including EV/Transportation, E-Mobility, & Aerospace.
Title: VP of Manufacturing, Battery Pack
Type: Full-time, permanent position - relocation will be provided
Location: San Diego, CA
Responsibilities:
Manage the overall battery pack development process, including defining project milestones, resource allocation, and budget management.
Develop and execute comprehensive validation plans to ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of battery systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and drive the battery technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and market trends.
Mentor and guide a team of battery engineers, providing technical expertise, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, overseeing procurement activities, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance.
Provide regular updates to senior management through detailed progress reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and proposed solutions
Qualifications:
Hands-on, technical experience in battery pack development for Electric Vehicles, understanding the engineering cycle from the cell level to integration level.
Experience in the design, development, and production of battery packs, with a focus on high-voltage systems.
2+ years of management experience.
Strong understanding of battery pack design principles, including component selection, thermal management, electrical integration, and safety considerations.
In-depth knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology, including cell chemistry, performance characteristics, aging mechanisms, and failure modes.
Experience with battery testing and validation, including performance characterization, environmental testing, and safety testing.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to battery pack design, such as ISO 26262, IEC 62133, and UL 2580.
