Piper Maddox is partnered with a leading environmental commodities trade house looking to grow out their Renewable Energy Tax desk.

This is a high-impact business development role, focused on scaling the company's tax credit platform. You'll source new business, build relationships with buyers and developers, and help drive transactions from origination through close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and develop new business within the renewable energy transferable tax credit space
  • Build and maintain relationships with Fortune 1000 companies, banks, hedge funds, private equity, and institutional investors through a mix of cold outreach and existing client engagement
  • Source high-quality tax credit supply by proactively engaging renewable energy developers and infrastructure funds
  • Provide clients with market intelligence, pricing guidance, and strategic insights/recommendations
  • Lead deal execution and negotiations, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders including Legal and other product desks
  • Support client onboarding and ensure seamless client engagement throughout the lifecycle
  • Assist in creating pre- & post-meeting materials


Key Requirements

  • 0-3 years experience in sales / business development role
  • Affinity with renewable energy, financial markets, or tax equity transactions and trading environments
  • Strong analytical and market research skills
  • Experience in utilizing CRM, email sequences, other sales enablement software's (Zoominfo, LinkedIn, etc) 
  • Bachelor's degree required - Finance, Business, Tax backgrounds a plus

We are looking for a motivated Energy Trader, BESS to manage the scheduling and optimization of battery storage assets in the ERCOT market (with potential expansion to other ISOs). The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day trading activities, market analysis, risk management, and strategy development to maximize revenue and ensure compliance with all market rules. Key Responsibilities: Execute day-ahead and real-time trading strategies for BESS assets within ERCOT and other relevant markets.Optimize charging and discharging schedules to maximize revenue across energy, ancillary services, and capacity markets.Initiate or support the effort to increase the revenues from the BESS assets, in addition to participating in the Energy Market, such as executing contracts with off-takersUse optimization tools to balance commercial value, operational limits, and risk exposure.Monitor trading positions, P&L, and exposure to market risks.Ensure compliance with ERCOT market rules, FERC regulations, and internal risk policies.Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis of power markets, demand/supply trends, and policy changes.Develop trading strategies to capture market opportunities and support long-term asset value.Participate, and contribute to the implementation of the company’s strategy to expand its business in the areas power trading and related businesses.
