Projektingenieur - Netzplanung für erneuerbare Energien / Project Engineer - Grid Planning of Renewable Energy:

  • Salary: Up to €90, 000 per annum (depending on level of suitable experience). There are opportunities for junior AND senior engineers.
  • Location: Hybrid - up to 2 days home-office. Offices across Berlin, Munich, Bremen, Aachen.
  • Please note the job is labelled as 'Remote' due to multiple office locations.

What do you need?

  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience with high-voltage grid connections in Germany
  • Ideal candidates will have 4-5+ years' experience in grid connections
  • Knowledge of VDE-AR N 4110, 4120
  • Professional experience of planning and/or construction supervision
  • IT skills: Experienced using NEPLAN/MATLAB/DIgSILENT PowerFactory etc…
  • Degree: Electrical Engineering degree at bachelor level / BSc
  • Language: Fluent German (C1/C2) - please note anything below this will not be considered

This role will play a key part in shaping protection strategies for 33kV and 132kV grid-connected assets, supporting projects across solar, BESS, wind, and hybrid schemes.The roleYou’ll act as a technical authority for protection and control design, leading the development of compliant, adoptable protection schemes from early concept through to commissioning. The position offers strong technical influence, close collaboration with DNOs/IDNOs, and the opportunity to mentor and develop junior engineers as the team scales.Key responsibilities Develop and own protection and control concepts for HV export schemes.Ensure compliance with G99, DNO and IDNO adoption requirements.Lead and maintain internal protection design standards and best practice.Provide technical support during installation, testing, and energisation.Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders.Review, optimise, and approve protection designs for compliance and efficiency. This organization covers the full project lifecycle—from development and construction to financing and operations. Position OverviewThe Senior Electrical Engineer will be a key contributor to the design and execution of renewable energy projects, including distributed generation/community solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role involves creating and reviewing engineering plan sets, supporting development and operations, and coordinating with external engineers, utilities, and EPC partners to ensure timely, code-compliant deliverables. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Technical Leadership Lead electrical design for solar and BESS projects, including site plans, one-line diagrams, stringing plans, and equipment layouts.Review and approve designs for technical accuracy and compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and local AHJ requirements.Perform PV system calculations, cable sizing, grounding, and overcurrent protection per NEC and best practices.Provide conceptual layouts and feasibility reviews to support development and operations teams.
