Job Title: BESS Engineer

Location: London or Edinburgh

Working Pattern: Full-time, hybrid working pattern.

Salary: £80,000 DOE

Piper Maddox are working with a leading pan-European renewable energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) who are seeking a BESS Engineer to join its growing team. They boast an immense pipeline of over 9GW across multiple technologies, and over 3.4GW of advanced BESS projects.

Role Summary

The BESS Engineer will play a key role in supporting the full lifecycle of battery storage projects, from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and operations. Working with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors, you will ensure projects are technically robust, commercially sound, and successfully delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop knowledge of BESS technologies, equipment, and design options
  • Support development teams with project layouts, feasibility, and constructability reviews
  • Coordinate technical queries with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants
  • Assist with commissioning processes and troubleshooting during delivery
  • Prepare efficient designs for standalone and co-located solar/BESS projects
  • Optimise design and cost across EPC categories

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in renewable energy, ideally BESS
