Project Engineer AC – (Utility-Scale PV)

Location: Remote or hybrid (Berlin or Munich)

Salary: up to €80,000 + bonus

 

A growing renewable energy platform is seeking a Project Engineer AC to take ownership of the AC engineering scope for commercial and utility-scale PV projects across Germany. This position is fully remote within Germany and offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality, compliant renewable energy projects from design through commissioning.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the AC engineering scope for PV projects, ensuring compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and project schedules
  • Conduct initial technical assessments to identify AC requirements and constraints
  • Develop AC system designs including single-line diagrams, cable sizing, layouts, and schematics
  • Prepare complete AC Bills of Quantities (BoQs) covering transformers, MV/LV switchgear, cabling, protection, and metering
  • Define protection, switching, and metering concepts in line with DNO/TSO requirements and VDE-AR-N 4105 / 4110
  • Coordinate all AC-related technical interfaces with suppliers and partners (inverter stations, BESS, EMS, metering providers)
  • Provide technical support to installation teams during construction, commissioning, and final acceptance testing
  • Resolve AC-related design and construction issues through structured root-cause analysis
  • Deliver complete AC engineering documentation packages to construction and O&M teams prior to project start and COD

Candidate Profile

  • Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering
  • 2–5 years of experience in C&I or utility-scale PV projects
  • Proven experience designing MV/LV PV systems in accordance with VDE 4105 / 4110
  • Experience with BESS and/or EMS integration
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design tools
  • Strong understanding of grid integration processes and utility approval workflows
  • Excellent interface-management and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Valid EU driving licence
  • Fluent German (minimum C1) and strong English skills
