The Opportunity

We're working with a leading EPC business to appoint a Senior Electrical Planning Engineer to take ownership of the AC engineering for commercial & industrial (C&I) photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Germany.

This is a senior technical role where you'll lead the electrical planning process from initial design through to commissioning, acting as the key interface between engineering, project management, grid operators, customers and electrical subcontractors.

The Role

As the Senior Electrical Planning Engineer, you'll be responsible for the complete AC engineering scope across C&I PV and BESS projects, including:

  • Leading the electrical planning and execution design of C&I PV and BESS installations from concept through to commissioning.
  • Developing and reviewing electrical design documentation, including metering, protection and control concepts.
  • Assessing existing customer electrical infrastructure and defining the technical requirements for grid integration.
  • Coordinating directly with grid operators on grid connection applications, connection points, metering concepts and protection requirements.
  • Preparing technical calculations, cost estimates and quotations for the electrical scope of works.
  • Managing and coordinating external electrical installation partners throughout project delivery, including reviewing completed works and invoices.
  • Acting as the technical lead for AC engineering, supporting Project Managers, Engineering teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers within the team.
  • Supporting commissioning, system acceptance and certification activities.
  • Maintaining close communication with customers, future asset operators and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in AC planning and grid connection for commercial and industrial renewable energy projects.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or qualification as a State-Certified Technician or Master Electrician.
  • Several years of experience in electrical planning, ideally within commercial & industrial PV, building services, switchgear or industrial electrical systems.
  • Strong experience with AC-side engineering, including transformer stations, metering, protection and control systems.
  • A solid understanding of German grid connection standards, particularly VDE-AR-N 4105 and VDE-AR-N 4110.
  • Experience coordinating directly with grid operators throughout the grid connection process.
  • Previous experience with battery energy storage (BESS) projects is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) and Microsoft Office.
  • A structured, solution-oriented approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A valid Class B driving licence.
  • Fluent German language skills.
