Piper Maddox has been engaged on a new search for an exciting Global Independent Power Producer. They are currently one of biggest generators of renewable energy (Solar, Wind, Hydro, Biomass, etc.) in the world, and have strong track record of success across Europe, something they are looking to replicate in the US market.

They have been established for 125 years, and have been making clean energy possible for over a century. They are now looking for a Environmental Products Originator to join their environmental commodities origination team, to support with growth in the PJM and ERCOT and help establish a strategy for expansion into new energy markets.

Job Description:

As the Environmental Products Originator for our client's US division, you will play a vital role in their environmental commodity origination team. Your responsibilities will include originating and executing various environmental products, with a primary focus on carbon allowances and offsets, notably within the California Cap and Trade program and similar initiatives. Beyond strategy execution, you will contribute to the development and pricing of environmental product offerings, with the potential to expand into origination within the US Renewable Energy markets. They are seeking a candidate who is organized, process-driven, and goal-oriented, capable of proactively devising solutions to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where closing deals are rewarded and views themselves as an integral part of a team, prioritizing group success over individual accomplishments.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure spot, forward, and financial carbon offset sales agreements bilaterally with compliance buyers and other market participants.
  • Originate compliance-eligible carbon offset supply from various project developers.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of all existing bilateral carbon transactions, overseeing the entire deal lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of relevant policy, product, and market developments, providing research and feedback to the team.
  • Support transactions from deal closing through settlement, including registry of transfers and invoice settlements.
  • Contribute to the strategy, structuring, and pricing of carbon deals.

Qualifications:

  • Proactive individual with a talent for prospecting future clients and opportunities.
  • Experience in originating commodities within a US client-base.
  • Fluency in market terminology, particularly common commercial terms.
  • Three or more years of experience prospecting, originating, and/or selling within any commodity market with a US client-base, including occasional presentations (internal or external).
  • Minimum of a college degree.
