Piper Maddox are partnered with a well-established and fast-growing organization in the renewable energy space that's looking to hire an experienced Plant Manager for their state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion and renewable natural gas facility in Richmond, Virginia.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven company focused on sustainability, carbon reduction, and transforming food and agricultural waste into clean energy. The organization operates multiple sites across the U.S. and is backed by strong investment and long-term growth plans.

As Plant Manager, you'll take full ownership of day-to-day plant operations, leading a team of technicians and ensuring optimal performance across safety, production, maintenance, and environmental compliance. This role requires hands-on leadership, operational discipline, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including RNG production, feedstock handling, and system performance.
  • Manage, train, and lead a team of plant operators and maintenance staff.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and corporate teams on process improvements, troubleshooting, and capital projects.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive plant performance toward efficiency, reliability, and output targets.
  • Maintain accurate records for reporting, compliance, and system audits.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to operational issues as needed.

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years of operations or plant management experience in renewable energy, industrial processing, wastewater, utilities, or related sectors.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical/electrical systems, SCADA/PLC controls, and process flow.
  • Experience working within regulatory frameworks and environmental compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to plant optimization.
  • Degree in engineering, environmental science, or technical discipline preferred (but not required).
