Transaction Counsel – Renewable Energy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transaction Counsel to join a fast-growing renewable energy group that is shaping the U.S. clean energy market. This role offers exposure to some of the most innovative and high-growth technologies in the sector, with clear opportunities for career progression into senior leadership.

The Role

You’ll be working as part of a dynamic in-house legal team, supporting two rapidly scaling business units in the renewable energy space. Reporting directly into the General Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing project development, financing, and commercial contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements: PPAs, development contracts, construction contracts, leases, supply and service agreements, O&M agreements, NDAs, and more.
  • Lead the legal aspects of financial closings and corporate transactions.
  • Manage and liaise with external counsel as required.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across legal, finance, sales, and leadership teams.
  • Provide proactive, business-focused legal advice to support growth and expansion.

 

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in energy law.
  • Strong background in renewable energy projects.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Corporate transaction experience required.
  • In-house experience preferred; law firm background considered.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to manage negotiations and influence stakeholders.
  • Hybrid opportunity - 3 days in office
  • Minneapolis preferred, can consider Chicago, Denver, Fairfield, and Arlington
