Project Engineer – Solar PV & Battery Storage

Hamburg, Germany | Full-time, Permanent

Salary: up to €70,000 + bonus

 

Our client is a leading international company in the renewable energy sector and one of Europe’s most successful players in utility-scale solar power. With a fast-growing, experienced team and a strong network of industry partners, the company develops, builds, and operates high-performance solar power plants and innovative battery storage projects.

 

To support their continued growth, we are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join their technical team in Hamburg.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Technical design and engineering of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants, particularly within repowering projects
  • Development of technical concepts for integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into existing installations
  • Analysis and evaluation of existing PV systems to optimise energy yield, grid compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, yield forecasts, and profitability analyses
  • Drafting of layout, string, and circuit plans in compliance with current standards and regulations
  • Close collaboration with the project development, construction, grid connection, and operations teams
  • Support with permitting processes and preparation of technical documentation
  • Technical input for tenders, component selection, and commissioning

 

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related field
  • Several years of professional experience in the design and planning of utility-scale PV systems (ideally >1 MWp)
  • Solid understanding of plant design, grid connection planning, and battery storage integration (BESS)
  • Experience with repowering projects is a plus
  • Confident use of relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Excel)
  • Good knowledge of VDE, EEG, and grid connection standards
  • Fluent in German and good command of English
  • Analytical mindset, independent working style, and strong team spirit
