Piper Maddox is supporting a Pan-European developer & operator who are hiring for a Head of Grid Connection. This is the perfect position for someone with no management experience, who is looking to step into their first leadership role!

 

They specialise in wind, solar, & BESS across their portfolio. Germany is their core market, where they currently have 2 GW of projects in development, with over 200 MW in operation. With over 50 team members in Germany, and near 180 across their two primary markets, now is a fantastic time to make your mark in leading the business...

 

  • Position:Head of Grid Connection
  • Location:Berlin - hybrid (must be in office 3 times per week)
  • Salary:Up to €105, 000 base + bonus

 

What you bring:

  • Ideally 3-5 years' experience covering the development of grid connections for largescale renewables (wind/solar/BESS).
  • Knowledge and experience with the initial planning and/or commissioning of HV substations.
  • Knowledge of VDE-AR-N 4110, 4120.
  • Experience using grid technologies and software (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Ability to communicate with German DSOs and TSOs through calls & meetings to align on grid access.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Leadership experience desired, but not essential.
  • FLUENT German required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will lead a small team of engineers and help guide them in projects.
  • Planning & design of all electrical aspects involved with the grid connection e.g. substations, cables, transformers, preparation of documents for grid applications.
  • Coordinating with DSOs and TSOs, and negotiating with them during the grid connection process.
  • Performing network calculations to assess compliance.
