With a strong international footprint and a mission-driven approach to the energy transition, this organisation is setting new standards in reliability, sustainability and customer experience across Europe.

This is a rare opportunity to make a tangible, real-world impact while working in an informal, international environment with long-term growth prospects.

As Location Design Lead for Switzerland, you will play a key role in shaping a high-quality charging network while leading, coaching and developing a talented local team of architects. This role combines architectural excellence with people-centred leadership to deliver innovative locations that raise the bar for design, functionality and user experience.

Key responsibilities

People leadership & team development

  • Build, mentor and grow the Location Design team in Switzerland
  • Foster a culture of psychological safety, collaboration, creativity and continuous learning
  • Provide clear direction, regular feedback and support individual development

Strategic design leadership

  • Lead the architectural vision for the Swiss portfolio, ensuring consistency with the wider design strategy while adapting to local and regulatory requirements

Stakeholder management

  • Act as the primary point of contact with external authorities and internal stakeholders
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with road authorities and cantonal and local government bodies

Process & workflow optimisation

  • Continuously improve design processes and workflows
  • Establish best practices and ensure efficient collaboration from early site development through to execution planning

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with Expansion, Construction and Public Affairs teams to accelerate deployment while maintaining design integrity

Innovation & design excellence

  • Encourage experimentation, new tools and innovative working methods
  • Champion design quality and reinforce the company’s reputation as a purpose-driven, design-forward organisation

The team & environment

You will lead the Swiss Location Design team based in Zurich (currently three architects), working closely with expansion and construction colleagues. You will also collaborate with other Architect Leads across Europe. The Zurich office offers a modern, collaborative workspace designed to support creativity and teamwork.

Who we’re looking for

You are an experienced architect with a strong passion for people leadership and customer experience. You bring proven experience leading or mentoring teams and have worked on CX-focused projects, ideally within retail, public space design, site development or complex infrastructure environments.

You are collaborative, empathetic and confident working in fast-paced, purpose-driven settings. You’re comfortable engaging with regulatory bodies and local authorities, and you balance strategic thinking with hands-on design involvement.

Key qualities

  • Strong people leader with a genuine commitment to inclusive, high-performing teams
  • Proven architectural expertise with a focus on customer experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Swiss building regulations and permitting processes
  • Confident communicator with government and regulatory stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with strong attention to design detail
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented
  • Clear, empathetic communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences

Required experience & qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in architecture, infrastructure design or a related field (leadership experience essential)
  • ETH or equivalent university degree in Architecture, or HF/FH in architecture, civil engineering or a related discipline
  • Intermediate proficiency in Revit or similar software preferred
  • Fluent in German and English (French is a plus)
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the energy transition and deliver meaningful, real-world impact

Due to the recent securing of a €200 million pipeline, the successful candidate will have significant opportunity to put their own mark on the projects and truly make the role their own.
