Engineering Test Manager

A rapidly scaling, advanced energy organization is seeking a Test Engineering Manager to support the stand-up of a newly acquired engineering and test facility in the Greater Chicago area. This role will lead and coordinate the end-to-end testing and qualification program for a greenfield site being built to support next-generation energy technologies. This individual will own the testing infrastructure and execution strategy, ensuring the facility is fully operational, compliant, and capable of supporting development and qualification activities across multiple engineering workstreams. This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on engineering leadership role spanning test execution, facility buildout, and operational readiness. Key Responsibilities: Own and lead the testing and qualification program for a new engineering and test facilityPartner with construction and facilities teams to support buildout, layout design, and operational readinessWork closely with engineering teams to define testing requirements and ensure facility design supports system-level validation needsCoordinate EHS and compliance activities, including documentation and alignment with regulatory requirementsServe as the primary coordination point between engineering, facilities, construction, and compliance stakeholdersDevelop and manage structured test plans, schedules, and documentation across development, qualification, and acceptance testing phasesIdentify risks across technical and operational workstreams and drive mitigation and resolution strategiesSupport the development of scalable testing processes and standards as the organization grows Qualifications / Ideal Candidate Profile: 8+ years of experience in test engineering, validation, or technical program leadership within an industrial or engineering environmentHands-on engineering background with experience in lab environments, commissioning, or facility/buildout-based testingStrong understanding of testing lifecycle phases including development, qualification, and acceptance testingProven ability to coordinate complex, multi-disciplinary programs across engineering, construction, and compliance functionsExperience operating in regulated or technically rigorous industries such as aerospace, defense, energy, or semiconductors preferredStrong documentation, organization, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple moving workstreams What you'd get: Strong base salary benchmarked to your experienceUnlimited PTOComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401k with company match
