Company Overview

  • Our client is a fast-growing, vertically integrated manufacturer of critical power distribution equipment serving the data center market. Their product portfolio includes power distribution units (PDUs), medium- and low-voltage switchgear, remote power panels (RPPs), and static transfer switches (STS).
  • The business is fully vertically integrated, with sheet metal fabrication, transformer manufacturing, assembly, and on-site testing all performed in-house at their U.S. manufacturing facility. This model gives them significant control over lead times and quality in a market where both are under intense pressure.
  • Company revenue is growing exponentially, driven by unprecedented capital investment in data center infrastructure across North America. Demand currently outstrips capacity to the extent that the business is selectively turning away multimillion-dollar projects while at the same time more than doubling manufacturing capacity.
  • Leadership includes a recently appointed COO with a track record of transforming lead times at a major power equipment manufacturer. The organization is in a foundational build phase, with senior hires being made across operations, supply chain, engineering, and finance to support the next stage of growth.

Role Overview

  • Title: Controller
  • Location: On-Site, Full time - Southeastern Ohio
  • Reports To: COO; CFO dotted line
  • Direct Reports: None
  • Salary: $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus: 10% annual performance target
  • Travel: Minimal

Role Summary

  • The Controller will own day-to-day accounting operations at the Marietta facility, acting as the on-site business-unit controller. Because this business builds custom products for each customer, this is fundamentally a project-accounting role: ensuring jobs are costed correctly, project costs are allocated accurately, inventory, labor, and scrap are controlled, and project profitability is tracked and reported.
  • The core outcome is giving executive leadership a clean, reliable line of sight into how the business unit is performing with accurate transactions at the source, weekly identification of cost excursions, and project-level profitability leadership can act on.
  • This hire owns the accuracy of what happens in the facility (material receipt and issue, BOM integrity, job close-out, WIP), reducing downstream discrepancy review and keeping BU financials trustworthy. The role runs across a typical load of 5–10 concurrent projects.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3–5 years of project accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on factory process fluency e.g., knows how material is received, issued, and allocated to jobs; can spot when a job wasn't closed out, a part wasn't on a BOM, or material was misallocated
  • Strong, process-level attention to detail; able to track multiple concurrent projects without losing accuracy
  • Experience with a manufacturing ERP (any ERP acceptable, Made2Manage not required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
