Role: Electricity Market Operations Specialist – Energy Operations

Location: Berlin, Germany (Office-Based)

A rapidly growing clean energy technology company is looking to appoint an Electricity Market Operations Specialist to support the expansion of its energy operations function. Combining renewable energy, software and finance, the business is building the infrastructure needed to accelerate the adoption of solar, battery storage, heat pumps and other clean-energy technologies across Europe.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth business at a pivotal stage of expansion, taking ownership of critical German energy market processes and helping establish the operational foundations required to scale a modern energy platform.

Working closely with internal operations teams, external market partners, grid operators and energy suppliers, you will ensure smooth execution of regulated electricity market processes. This role offers genuine ownership, allowing you to improve processes, solve complex operational challenges and contribute to the development of a next-generation energy business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise electricity market processes, ensuring accurate and compliant execution of regulated German energy operations.
  • Coordinate supplier switching processes, customer migrations and communication flows between market participants.
  • Manage communication with grid operators, energy suppliers and external service providers.
  • Monitor and resolve operational issues relating to meter data, billing processes and market communication.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of processes across energy operations as the business scales.
  • Ensure compliance with German energy market regulations and industry standards.
  • Investigate process failures, identify root causes and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Work closely with internal teams including customer operations, product, finance and technology to improve operational performance.
  • Support automation and optimisation initiatives to create scalable energy operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience within German electricity market operations, energy suppliers, utilities, Stadtwerke or an energy-focused technology business.
  • Strong understanding of German market communication processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with processes such as GPKE, MaBiS, UTILMD, MSCONS, APERAK or similar energy market standards.
  • Familiarity with supplier switching, meter data management and communication between market participants.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex operational issues.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Fluent German and strong English communication skills are essential.
  • Experience within a start-up, scale-up or rapidly changing environment would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to join a business operating at the forefront of the energy transition, where you will play a key role in building the operational infrastructure behind a rapidly scaling clean-energy platform.

Unlike traditional utility operations roles, this position provides the opportunity to combine deep energy-market expertise with technology and innovation. You will have the autonomy to improve processes, influence operational strategy and help shape how energy services are delivered at scale.

For ambitious energy operations professionals, this role offers the chance to take ownership of critical market processes while gaining exposure to renewable energy, software and the future of decentralised energy systems.
