Piper Maddox is partnered with an established renewable energy and infrastructure EPC contractor looking to hire its first dedicated Business Development Manager as it expands its presence across the Desert Southwest and Western U.S.This is a highly entrepreneurial opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to take ownership of new business development across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage (BESS), substations, and associated power infrastructure.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with renewable energy developers, IPPs, utilities, and project owners while working closely with internal estimating, engineering, and operations teams to take opportunities from initial engagement through proposal, negotiation, and contract award.As the first dedicated Business Development hire, this individual will also have significant input into the company's broader commercial strategy, with the opportunity to build and potentially lead the Business Development function as the organization continues to grow.Key Responsibilities Develop new relationships with renewable energy developers, IPPs, utilities, and project owners across the Western U.S.Generate new EPC opportunities across utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, and related energy infrastructure.Drive new business through direct outreach, industry relationships, conferences, referrals, and strategic networking.Own customer relationships from initial engagement through contract award.Work alongside estimating, engineering, preconstruction, and operations teams to develop competitive proposals.Lead commercial strategy throughout the bidding and proposal process.Build and manage a long-term pipeline of qualified EPC opportunities.Represent the organization at customer meetings, industry conferences, and networking events.Help shape the strategy, processes, and future structure of the Business Development organization. Required Experience 5+ years of Business Development, Sales, Commercial, or related experience within renewable energy, EPC, engineering, construction, or energy infrastructure.Proven success developing relationships with renewable developers, IPPs, utilities, or project owners.Experience selling EPC, engineering, construction, equipment, or technical infrastructure services.Strong understanding of complex and consultative sales processes involving multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.Ability to manage long sales cycles from initial relationship development through contract execution.Strong communication, relationship-building, and commercial skills.Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory. Ideal Background The strongest candidates will currently be working in Business Development for an EPC contractor, selling directly to renewable energy developers and IPPs.The organization is also interested in candidates from: Engineering and consulting firms serving renewable energy developers.Balance-of-Plant contractors and specialty subcontractors.Equipment manufacturers and technical solution providers.Solar, BESS, substation, transmission, or broader power infrastructure companies.Project Management, Preconstruction, Estimating, or Operations professionals with strong customer relationships who are interested in transitioning into Business Development. A strong technical understanding of renewable energy projects is highly valued, particularly for candidates who can combine technical credibility with a relationship-driven and consultative approach to sales.Compensation & Location Base Salary: $130,000–$150,000Bonus/Commission: Additional variable compensationBenefits: Competitive benefits packageThis is a remote position covering the Southwest and Western U.S.Phoenix, AZ is preferred, although candidates based throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho, and Wyoming will be considered.Regional travel for customer meetings, conferences, and industry events will be required.Why Consider This Opportunity?
