Investment Banking Associate

Location: New York City, New York

Salary Expectations: $145,000 - $185,000 + bonus

 

Piper Maddox have been assigned to a leading women-owned boutique investment bank as they continue to grow their investment team. The primary responsibilities for the Investment Banking Associate include driving day-to-day execution of M&A transactions, building financial models, and leading the creation of client materials in Energy Transition/Power & Sustainability clients.

 

This is an opportunity to work in a boutique investment firm with high ownership on M&A and capital raising activities, a flat organization with direct visibility to Managing Directors, and a low pitch-to-deal ratio.

 

What you will do:

  • Drive work product and modeling by building, reviewing and refining valuation work, financial models and corporate and project finance analyses, including DCF, pro forma merger analysis and trading and transaction comparables.
  • Run day-to-day execution on M&A, private capital raising and recapitalization transactions across Energy Transition, Power and Sustainability, coordinating internal and external workstreams.
  • Driving the development of pitch books, process documents and board-level presentations, including market updates, sector analyses, TAM overviews and investor insights, using PowerPoint, PitchBook, FactSet, Excel and other industry-specific databases.
  • Assist in the preparation of investment committee memoranda and Board materials supporting greenfield and M&A investment approvals

 

What you will have:

  • Experience within Power, Energy, and Infrastructure sectors – sell-side experience preferred within renewables (and/or thermal and a mix of buy and sell side)
  • 2–4 years of investment banking experience; candidates with equivalent experience at an institutional investor (e.g., private equity, growth equity, infrastructure, credit) interested in transitioning to advisory to be considered
  • Deep technical foundation in financial modeling, valuation and transaction structuring across M&A, capital raising and related advisory work, with the ability to apply skills creatively to a diverse set of clients' needs
  • Direct involvement in client facing work – negotiation, advising and closing in M&A and capital raise activities.

The primary responsibilities for the Senior Finance Associate include creating and maintaining project financial models, conducting due diligence, and building and updating corporate financial models in support of acquisitions for utility-scale electric transmission projects. The Senior Finance Associate will also support the preparation, maintenance, and analysis of complex project finance models for electric transmission projects on the Finance team.
