Our Client is a a leading provider of energy data and analytics solutions - delivering market data and real-time insights to Energy Trading and Power Generation market participant across North America. They are seeking a Senior Power Market Analyst - with a deep understand of the local, state, and federal regulatory & policy landscape, to join their Market Analysis & Monitoring team.

Position Overview

In this role, you will leverage advanced research and analytical expertise to address challenges in nodal energy markets, performing detailed studies on regulatory policy shifts to uncover industry trends affecting clients. You will expand your knowledge of energy markets to navigate rapidly changing landscapes. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in nodal energy markets, including real-time, day-ahead, and financial transmission rights trading, with a strong focus on regulatory frameworks and planning.

Position Details

• Salary range: $90,000-120,000 USD - depending on the experience level you bring
• Location: remote
• Employment type: Full-time

Key Duties

• Market Insights & Evaluation: Investigate and document technical and regulatory developments in North American energy markets. Assess primary factors behind significant price movements and new market trends. Independently create internal reports and share findings to keep staff and clients informed of market shifts.
• Industry Engagement: Represent the organization at industry events, discussing regulatory changes, policy perspectives, and trends impacting market participants.
• Data Source Collaboration: Develop productive relationships with regional grid operators and other data providers. Attend policy discussions to stay informed on current and upcoming changes and offer input where appropriate.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with Product Development, Data Operations, Client Support, and leadership to apply your expertise and inform product strategy.
• Client Support: Guide clients in optimizing the use of our tools and regulatory insights. Address client inquiries by providing detailed market analysis and data-driven responses.
• Mentorship: Support team members by sharing technical expertise and stepping into a leadership role as needed.
• Data Requirements Development: Work with data product leads to define technical specifications for new data collections and communicate updates to the Data Operations team.
• Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with product leads, managers, and stakeholders to relay policy and data source updates effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Established expertise in energy policy and regulatory analysis
• Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, finance, or a related field, or an advanced degree
• 5+ years of experience evaluating energy market data and trends in the U.S.
• 5+ years in an energy market role, preferably with a grid operator or similar entity
• Experience fostering relationships with clients and data providers
• Proficiency in using relational databases for data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with a regional grid operator or energy regulatory body
• Published research or industry analyses
• Experience in client support, consulting, or direct client engagement
• Familiarity with SQL
