Piper Maddox have recently partnered with a leading U.S.-based electrical contractor in an effort to continue the build out of their Solar Superintendent group.

This organization have a dedicated renewable energy division that focuses on turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for solar energy systems. This division specializes in commercial and industrial (C&I) scale solar projects, typically ranging up to 30 megawatts (MW) in capacity. In the organizations history they have installed more than 2GW of Renewable Energy.

In this position you will be tasked with the following:

  • Lead and perform commissioning of commercial solar PV systems, ensuring proper installation, functionality, and compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving solar panels, inverters, data acquisition systems (DAS), and electrical components during and after commissioning.
  • Analyze performance data and use tools like I-V curve tracing and thermal imaging to optimize system efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams, providing detailed documentation and feedback using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Procore, Bluebeam, and Excel.
  • Supervise and support commissioning technicians, coordinating tasks, mentoring team members, and maintaining high-quality service and troubleshooting practices.

For this role, the right person has a background similar to the below:

  • Technical certifications, NABCEP, OSHA 10/30, and California General or Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Hands-on experience and technical expertise: Proven background in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting solar PV systems, with strong knowledge of electrical systems and solar technology.
  • Strong understanding of safety and compliance: Familiar with OSHA standards and industry regulations, ensuring safe work practices across all project sites.
  • Analytical and communication skills: Proactive problem-solver with the ability to clearly communicate technical information both verbally and in writing.
  • Project execution and adaptability: Skilled in interpreting construction drawings (via Egnyte and Procore), working independently or within a team, and traveling as needed with a valid driver's license.
