The Role:

Our client is seeking a Senior Settlements Analyst to support back-office operations for their energy trading and asset portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring accurate settlement of wholesale energy market transactions and will interface closely with teams across energy operations, accounting, and risk. Candidates should have experience in ISO/RTO settlement processes (ideally ERCOT and/or CAISO), strong analytical capabilities, and a detail-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile market settlements and counterparty invoices for power trading transactions.
  • Validate pricing and volume data across settlement systems and internal trade capture tools.
  • Conduct shadow settlements for ISO/RTO markets; investigate discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate cash flow forecasting.
  • Support the design and implementation of process improvements, internal controls, and audit readiness.
  • Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Risk, Energy Ops, and Market Analytics teams.
  • Monitor regulatory rate changes and assess financial impacts.
  • Generate periodic reports and support external audit data requests.
  • Assist with system tools used in bid-to-bill processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in settlements, energy finance, or utility accounting.
  • Familiarity with ISO/RTO invoice structures (ERCOT/CAISO preferred).
  • Experience with energy trading, market operations, or related back-office functions.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in renewable energy or regulated utilities is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to CRRs, M2M, or EIM settlements is advantageous.
