Piper Maddox has been exclusively retained by a global leader in product testing, inspection, and certification, seeking a Technical Specialist to join their team in advancing safety and performance standards for energy storage systems.

Job Summary:

The Technical Specialist will serve as an expert in energy storage fire testing, driving commercial development of new and existing accounts. This role ensures customer satisfaction while promoting expanded services, mentoring staff, and managing certification projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship in energy storage fire testing.
  • Manage testing laboratory projects to maximize throughput and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct certification project reviews to maintain technical qualifications.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to meet sales targets.
  • Prepare pricing proposals and represent the organization at industry events.
  • Maintain accurate client records and provide periodic activity reports.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer designation or a 3-year college diploma in a relevant technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in the energy storage industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of energy storage fire testing standards (e.g., UL, IEC, or similar).
  • Familiarity with testing procedures and certification programs.
  • Sales or marketing experience is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven sales or account management experience.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.

The ideal background for this role would be Land Managers already working in renewable energy, or Surveyors who have experience working on renewable energy projects.Some key experience needed for this role: > Experience working within the renewable energy sector and the constraints/considerations needed for land acquisition/management within the energy industry. > A good track record in delivering on the commercial negotiations relating to land acquisitions - heads of terms, easements, option to lease agreements etc. > Strong network of landowners/land agents, as well as being comfortable and confident engaging/managing rural & agricultural stakeholders. In this role you would have the chance to work within one of the most stable players in the industry, while working alongside highly experienced colleagues in planning, development, grid, delivery, and construction teams.
