Procurement Director – Renewables (BESS, Solar PV & Wind)

Location: Milan, Italy

Salary: Competitive + Bonus

Working Pattern: Office-based

 

The Opportunity

We are working with a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) developing, financing and operating utility-scale Solar PV, BESS and Onshore Wind projects across Italy and Europe.

With a significant multi-GW pipeline, they are looking for a Procurement Director to lead their procurement strategy and supply chain operations from their Milan headquarters.

Reporting to the VP of EPC, you will take strategic and operational ownership of procurement, combining high-value negotiations, tender management, supplier strategy and team leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies across Solar PV, BESS and Wind projects.
  • Lead end-to-end RFP/RFQ and tender processes, from supplier selection through to contract award.
  • Negotiate major equipment and supply agreements covering BESS systems, PV modules, inverters, mounting structures and WTGs.
  • Negotiate and manage EPC, BESS, LTSA and O&M contracts.
  • Oversee purchasing and PO workflows, ensuring alignment with project financing and construction milestones.
  • Manage supplier relationships, commercial disputes, claims and variations.
  • Lead and develop the Milan-based procurement team.
  • Collaborate closely with EPC, Engineering, Development, Legal, Finance and Construction teams.
  • Ensure procurement activities meet corporate governance and ESG requirements.

 

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years' procurement experience within renewable energy, energy infrastructure or utilities.
  • Proven experience managing procurement for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS; Wind/WTG experience is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of the European renewable energy supply chain, EPC market and major equipment suppliers.
  • Proven experience negotiating high-value equipment and EPC contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC and international contracting frameworks.
  • Commercially astute, with experience in commodity pricing and cost-indexation.
  • Experience leading and developing procurement teams.
  • Fluent Italian and English.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Milan, with regular office presence.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or a related field.
