Oxfordshire, England
A UK aerospace start-up developing a new class of lightweight, electrically powered aircraft is growing its internal structures capability and is now looking for a Composites Design Engineer to join the team. This is a hands-on role within a small, talented engineering group working across concept development, detailed design, analysis and build support. You’ll have the chance to influence key structural decisions on a novel aircraft platform and see your work progress quickly into test and development. The OpportunityYou’ll own composite component design from first principles through to production-ready detail, using Siemens NX for modelling and contributing directly to structural analysis, optimisation and documentation. You’ll also work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure designs align with real-world processes. The role suits someone who is comfortable balancing design creativity with practical engineering judgement – and who enjoys working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.Responsibilities Designing composite airframe and aerostructure components in NXPerforming analysis and sizing of composite structures (classical methods + laminate evaluation)Producing drawings, material definitions, reports and release documentationSupporting manufacturing, tooling and structural test activitiesHelping establish internal standards and best practice for composite designWorking with systems, aerodynamics and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration across the aircraft About YouWe’re looking for a competent Composites Design Engineer with strong aerospace experience and a solid understanding of both composite design and analysis. You’ll Bring: Strong CAD capability in Siemens NXExperience designing composite structures for airframes or aerostructuresAbility to assess loads, define laminates and evaluate structural performanceAwareness of composite manufacturing processes and their design implicationsClear communication skills and a methodical engineering approachA relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience Experience with FEA tools, flight test support or structural test correlation is helpful but not essential. Why this role?
