Piper Maddox are exclusively supporting an independent Italian renewables investor and developer as they progress an impressive portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Italy.

Following successful awards in the recent FER-X and MACSE auctions, this well-established execution platform is strengthening its project delivery team and is seeking a mid to senior-level Project Manager with strong experience delivering large-scale renewable energy assets. With over 200MW of PV and close to 100MW of standalone BESS entering construction this year, this role offers direct involvement in one of the most active construction pipelines in the Italian market.

The company already operates 150MW of wind and solar assets and has recently delivered more than 40MW of new capacity. Active in grid-scale BESS development since 2019, they also hold a further 700MW of authorised BESS projects, in addition to multiple assets already at Ready-to-Build stage. You will be joining a lean, high-performing execution team, with genuine scope to take ownership of complex projects and grow into a senior leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Full project management of multiple utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects from RtB through to COD
  • Plan and coordinate project execution in collaboration with internal engineering and procurement teams
  • Oversee construction progress on site, managing EPC contractors, subcontractors, and consultants
  • Support internal engineering and development teams during secondary permitting and execution phases
  • Plan and manage commissioning activities and oversee handover to the O&M function
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with contractual and financing requirements

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management roles within the renewable energy sector
  • Proven track record delivering utility-scale (10MW+) solar PV and/or BESS projects in Italy
  • Strong expertise in budget control, scheduling, contract management, and stakeholder coordination
  • Fluent Italian and English

BESS Design Manager

Piper Maddox is partnering with one of the UK’s leading and fastest-growing developers, owners, and operators of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage projects, with an established footprint across solar and onshore wind. Due to continued growth, they are looking to hire a Design Manager to strengthen their construction team.As Design Manager, you’ll report into the Head of Construction and take ownership of reviewing and assuring the quality and completeness of design and QC documentation across a portfolio of BESS projects across Europe. You’ll define the right design review strategy for each project and lead the review of design submissions from contractors and key stakeholders, including DNOs and TSOs.Location: YorkshireSalary: Up to £80,000Key Responsibilities- Lead and implement a tailored design review strategy for each project, reviewing submissions from contractors and external stakeholders (DNOs, TSOs, etc.).- Ensure designs meet project requirements and comply with relevant standards across the UK, Poland, and Germany.- Proactively identify and manage key design and interface risks, setting clear documentation requirements and submission timelines.- Manage technical interfaces between multiple work packages to ensure reviews are completed without impacting programme.- Coordinate with external Owner’s Engineers and specialist consultants for additional design reviews or technical support.- Support the development of RFPs and technical specifications, ideally including high-voltage equipment such as transformers up to 400kV.Skills & Experience- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.- Experience delivering large-scale power or electrical infrastructure projects; - HV grid connections and/or BESS experience highly desirable.- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.- Ability to engage across multiple engineering disciplines, including civil, electrical, and controls.- Previous experience undertaking design reviews, ideally in an Owner’s Engineer or client-side role.

EPC Project Manager
Bucharest, Romania

EPC Project Manager | Utility-Scale Solar & BESS Bucharest, Romania Piper Maddox are supporting one of Europe’s leading independent power producers as they progress the construction of one of Romania’s largest renewable energy assets. This flagship hybrid PV & BESS project (300MW+) will be delivered over a two-year construction programme and requires an experienced Project Manager to take full ownership of delivery, based between the office in Bucharest and site in Brașov. With strong financial backing from one of the world’s largest infrastructure investment funds, this business is scaling rapidly across Romania. Operating with a lean but growing local team, the Project Manager will play a critical role on a landmark project, offering high levels of autonomy, senior stakeholder exposure, and long-term progression within a leading IPP platform. As Project Manager, you will: Take full responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale utility solar & BESS project from RtB through to COD.Lead and coordinate EPC / EPCM contractors, Owner’s Engineers, and key subcontractors to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery.Own the project programme, budget, risk register, and reporting, providing clear updates to internal leadership and investors.Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including grid operators, local authorities, and technical advisors.Oversee site leadership functions including construction management, quality, and HSE in collaboration with dedicated site teams.Ensure compliance with Romanian regulations, permitting conditions, and international best practices.
