Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team focused on simplicity, functionality, and build efficiency

  • Oversee both mechanical and electrical engineering functions, ensuring all vehicles evolve smoothly from design to production

  • Create and manage structured project plans with clear milestones and deliverables

  • Foster close collaboration across multiple departments including design, production, supply chain, and process engineering

  • Establish and maintain documentation standards and change control processes for all engineering outputs

  • Define and track key performance metrics (KPIs), while driving accountability across the team

  • Standardize materials and components for scalable manufacturing

  • Lead regular design reviews and optimize products for ease of manufacturing and minimal disruption

  • Analyze defect trends and implement corrective measures


What You Bring:

  • 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, ideally within a manufacturing or production-focused environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Proven track record in project delivery, timeline management, and technical leadership

  • Deep knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles and scalable design strategies

  • Experience building structured workflows and standard operating procedures

  • Strong leadership presence, with the ability to define goals, provide feedback, and hold team members to high standards


Preferred Experience:

  • Automotive industry background

  • Familiarity with cloud-based CAD platforms (e.g., OnShape) and product lifecycle systems (e.g., Arena)

  • Experience working on electric powertrain systems or EV conversions


Work Environment & Physical Expectations:

This role involves both hands-on and office-based work. Expect time in a workshop environment that may include moderate to loud noise, occasional fumes, and temperature variability. Personal protective equipment is required during certain tasks. Responsibilities include physical activity such as walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), bending, or standing for extended periods.

Piper Maddox have recently partnered with a leading EPC firm in an effort to help build out their Preconstruction team by adding another Preconstruction Manager.This organization have been operating for close to a decade and have reached a pivotal moment in their history - they have more confirmed projects for the next 18 months (MW wise) than they have completed in the previous 10 years. This has mostly come from no-bid projects due to their reputation in the market.In this role, you will have a number of responsibilities but they will include things like:Responsibility over all tasks and deliverables in the project development and preconstruction phases of each project to ensure the critical path activities have been met.Working closely with the Construction team at the point of handoff to ensure a successful transition.Provide ongoing support where needed.Managing and overseeing all engineering and design efforts throughout project phases, ensuring compliance and timely delivery.Collaborate with Business Development and regulatory bodies, conducting necessary technical analyses to advance projects.Approve equipment drawings, ensure constructability, and review designs for code compliance.Build and manage relationships with vendors and consultants.
