Senior Process Engineer (Formation) Main Duties and Responsibilities:Process Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop battery cell formation processes, including equipment selection and layout.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and increased efficiency, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.Data Analysis: Analyse process data, monitor performance metrics, and utilise data-driven insights to enhance battery formation processes.Quality Assurance: Ensure that formation processes meet strict quality standards and regulatory requirements, implementing quality control measures.Safety Compliance: Maintain a strong commitment to safety and ensure that formation processes comply with safety regulations and protocols.Equipment Evaluation: Evaluate, select, and oversee the installation of equipment and technology solutions for battery cell formation.Process Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (work instructions, RCA / 8D reports).Training: Provide training and guidance to production personnel on new processes and procedures, ensuring effective implementation.Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting to address process issues and improve reliability.Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to achieve process improvement goals.Skills & Requirements:Education / Experience:Bachelor's degree or higher in Electro-Chemistry, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.At least 5+ years of experience in battery formation processes.Good working experience in aspects of charging protocol development, equipment design, and factory integration with automated systems.Experience with DOE and statistical process control (SPC). Demonstrated ability to design, optimise, and qualify processes with data-driven decisions.Experience in scaling a process from pilot to large production scale.In-depth understanding of the entire battery process (from mixing to validation).Knowledge of formation fundamentals such as ion diffusive, charge transfer kinetics, cell thermal dynamics, and practical engineering experience.Specific Skills / Personal Qualifications:Operational standard drafting, geometric dimension, and tolerance.In-depth understanding of equipment design, documentation (RFI/RFP/RFQ and process specifications), release procedures (FAT/SAT), and commissioning.Working knowledge of quality systems and tools including PFMEA, SPC, IATF16949, 6Sigma, design of experiments, and statistical analysis.Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project) and engineering software (AutoCAD, CADWorx, Schedule-pro).Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work cooperatively and supportively with a broad range of individuals.Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to thrive in a dynamic start up environment.Strong analytically skills and attention to detail.If you're passionate about battery technology and want to play a crucial role in our innovative team, we encourage you to apply.Piper Maddox is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
