Piper Maddox are exclusively supporting an independent Italian renewables investor and developer as they continue to scale an impressive operational and near-term construction portfolio across utility-scale solar PV, onshore wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) in Italy.

Following successful awards in the recent FER-X and MACSE auctions, this well-established and profitable platform is now strengthening its technical asset management function and is seeking a senior-level Asset Manager with strong experience across operational renewable energy assets. With 150MW already in operation, over 200MW of PV and close to 100MW of standalone BESS set to come online over the next 12 to 24 months, and a further 700MW of BESS at Ready-to-Build stage, this role offers direct involvement in one of the most active and strategically positioned growth platforms in the Italian market.

The business has already built a solid technical asset management foundation, with three junior-to-mid level technical asset managers in place, and is now looking to appoint a senior profile capable of stepping into a leadership role. You will join at a pivotal point in the company’s growth, with genuine scope to shape asset strategy, improve operational performance, support the integration of new assets into operation, and progress toward a future Head of Technical Asset Management position.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical asset management of an operational portfolio across utility-scale solar PV, onshore wind, and standalone BESS assets

• Oversee asset performance, availability, reliability, and optimisation strategies to maximise technical and commercial output

• Manage and support external O&M providers, technical consultants, and key operational contractors across the portfolio

• Monitor operational KPIs, identify underperformance issues, and coordinate corrective actions to improve asset efficiency and long-term value

• Support the transition of new projects from construction into operations, ensuring smooth handover and operational readiness

• Collaborate closely with internal development, engineering, finance, and leadership teams on asset strategy, reporting, budgeting, and long-term planning

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior asset managers, with the opportunity to help shape the future structure of the asset management team

Key Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, or related Engineering discipline

• Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in technical asset management or operations roles within the renewable energy sector

• Proven experience managing utility-scale solar PV and/or wind assets in operation, with BESS exposure considered highly advantageous

• Strong understanding of asset performance analysis, O&M management, technical reporting, budgeting, and contractor oversight

• Experience supporting project handover from construction into operations and managing post-COD optimisation strategies

• Leadership capability or prior experience mentoring junior team members within a technical asset management environment

• Fluent Italian and English

Why Join?

• Established independent Italian renewables platform with a profitable operating portfolio, experienced leadership, and strong institutional backing

• Clear and defined pathway into a future Head of Technical Asset Management position, with the opportunity to shape the long-term structure of the function

• Strong near-term buildout with 200MW+ of PV and c.100MW of standalone BESS entering operation over the next 12–24 months, plus a substantial 700MW BESS RTB pipeline

• Opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of growth, combining operational responsibility, strategic influence, and long-term leadership potential within one of Italy’s most active renewable and storage platforms
