Financial Analyst – Project Finance & Renewable Energy

 

Piper Maddox has been exclusively retained by a leading renewable energy developer and owner to appoint a Financial Analyst to join its growing Project Finance team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an analytically driven finance professional to build a career at one of North America's premier renewable energy platforms. You'll gain exposure to utility-scale wind, solar, battery storage, and transmission projects while supporting high-profile financing and M&A transactions.

Working alongside experienced project finance professionals, you'll play a key role in evaluating investments, building financial models, supporting transaction execution, and helping deliver the capital needed to accelerate the clean energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models for renewable energy development, acquisition, and financing opportunities.

  • Support project financing and structured finance transactions, including tax equity investments and debt financings.

  • Perform financial analysis, valuations, scenario analysis, and investment return modelling.

  • Identify key project value drivers and assess commercial and financial risks.

  • Assist with project due diligence throughout acquisitions, financings, and development milestones.

  • Prepare investment memoranda, management presentations, and materials for lenders and investors.

  • Conduct counterparty credit analysis and evaluate contractual risks associated with project financing.

  • Analyze market dynamics, pricing trends, hedging strategies, and other financial risk management tools.

  • Support treasury activities, capital planning, and broader corporate finance initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Development, Construction, Legal, Commercial, Asset Management, and Executive Leadership.

  • Respond to lender and investor due diligence requests throughout financing processes.

  • Participate in project financing transactions from initial evaluation through financial close.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 2–4 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, infrastructure finance, renewable energy, corporate finance, or financial modelling.

  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Experience supporting project finance, acquisitions, or structured finance transactions is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of renewable energy markets is preferred but not essential.

  • Advanced Excel modelling skills and proficiency with PowerPoint.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • CFA designation or postgraduate degree is considered an advantage but is not required.
