Your Role

As UK Expansion Lead, you will be responsible for driving the growth of a leading European electric vehicle charging business and supporting its mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility.

In this role, you will lead the expansion of the company’s network across the UK and Ireland, with a focus on securing prime locations and developing a high-quality portfolio of fast-charging sites as part of a broader European growth strategy.

In concrete terms, this means you will:

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of three Expansion Managers, creating a culture of ownership, collaboration and strong execution.
  • Develop and execute the UK expansion strategy, strengthening the organisation’s position as a leading EV charging provider. Working with your team, you will identify and secure new locations, taking opportunities from initial scouting through to signed leases, freehold acquisitions or other suitable agreements.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with commercial landowners, local authorities, government stakeholders and other relevant partners to create a strong pipeline of new locations.
  • Set ambitious growth targets and deliver the UK expansion plan, while remaining hands-on in identifying and developing opportunities. Securing new locations will be the primary objective for you and your team.
  • Lead key real estate transactions and negotiations, representing the organisation’s strategic objectives and values when engaging with landowners, public-sector bodies and other stakeholders.
  • Improve and streamline expansion processes, ensuring the team operates as efficiently and effectively as possible as the business scales.
  • Own and assess business cases, working closely with finance, technical and other subject-matter experts to understand financial, commercial and techno-economic considerations. You will be comfortable playing your role in complex negotiations and ensuring that commercial decisions are well supported.
  • Monitor market and policy developments, identifying emerging opportunities and understanding how changes in regulation, infrastructure policy and the wider energy market could affect the organisation’s expansion plans.

The role will be based in London, where you will provide leadership to the UK expansion team while working closely with colleagues across Europe.

You will be part of the Network Development leadership team, a diverse and collaborative group of professionals operating across multiple European markets. You will report directly to the Network Development Director and will work with colleagues both in person and remotely as the organisation continues to grow.

The organisation values people who think critically, take ownership and challenge the status quo. You will be encouraged to generate and champion new ideas, develop business opportunities and build internal support for initiatives that can accelerate growth.

You will collaborate closely with teams across functions including design, development, engineering, commercial, finance and operations, giving you the opportunity to make a tangible impact in a rapidly evolving, future-focused industry.

Who Are We Looking For?

To succeed in this role, you will be a convincing communicator, accomplished networker and confident people leader. You will bring significant experience in negotiation and stakeholder management, with the ability to operate effectively with both governmental organisations and private-sector landowners.

Additionally, you will ideally have:

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in expansion, commercial, real estate or a closely related environment, ideally gained within an international organisation.
  • Previous people-management experience, with a track record of adapting your leadership style to develop and motivate a team.
  • An established network of government and private-sector stakeholders across areas such as energy, infrastructure, transport, property or e-mobility, together with the ambition and ability to expand that network further.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, combined with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong commercial and analytical judgement, with the ability to process complex information, assess what matters most and clearly prioritise opportunities and actions.
  • A willingness to travel regularly across the UK and Europe.
  • A strong personal motivation to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport and energy.

Nice to Have

  • Chartered Surveyor qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Previous experience working in a high-growth business, renewable energy, EV charging, infrastructure, mobility or another adjacent sector.
