They are seeking a Solar Commissioning Specialist to join our growing Solar team. This role is critical to ensuring that solar projects power up safely, operate reliably, and deliver optimal performance over their lifecycle. You’ll work closely with project management, engineering, and installation teams to commission new solar projects and maintain the performance of existing assets, including PV systems, inverters, transformers, and BESS equipment. Key Responsibilities: Lead the commissioning process for solar projects, including electrical testing, troubleshooting, and site-specific commissioning plans. Collaborate with project managers to develop commissioning schedules, budgets, and plans aligned with project goals. Review contracts, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure deliverables meet internal requirements. Maintain logs, equipment checklists, and standardized reporting for performance and uptime. Perform field troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on existing assets. Configure and manage manufacturer software tools and SCADA systems for monitoring and optimization. Implement proactive Asset Management strategies, including O&M, risk management, performance monitoring, and ROI optimization. Train and support property owners on system operations and maintenance. Conduct capacity testing, including IV Curve Tracing, and ensure equipment warranties are maintained. Execute and enforce safety procedures and protocols. Qualifications: Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology (electrical, industrial controls, construction, computer, etc.) OR 3–5 years in a technical role in energy, utilities, construction, or a similar industrial field. Experience with SCADA, industrial control systems, or TCP/IP network infrastructure preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Excellent project management and problem-solving abilities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Willingness to travel to multiple job sites across WNY and NYS. OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred (training available)
