About the Role

We are supporting a leading renewable energy developer in their search for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist. This is a site-based role — ideal for someone who thrives in the field, working closely with contractors and project teams to raise the bar for safety on major energy infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will initially oversee multiple large-scale construction projects, managing subcontractors and ensuring world-class safety practices are implemented and maintained. You will be an embedded, respected partner on-site, actively educating teams, troubleshooting risks, and, when necessary, exercising authority to stop work until issues are resolved.

This position is a fantastic opportunity for an HSE professional eager to grow their impact in the renewable energy sector while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge energy storage projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the on-site HSE lead across multiple active construction projects.
  • Partner with EPC subcontractors to build and continuously improve safety programs as projects progress.
  • Oversee compliance with all safety management systems, both internal and subcontractor-driven.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Mentor and train project teams on HSE best practices to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • When required, take decisive action — including halting site activities — to ensure standards are upheld.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–7 years’ experience in site-based HSE roles, ideally in energy storage, renewable energy, heavy construction, or data centers.
  • Strong background in subcontractor management — able to influence and, when needed, assert authority to enforce safety.
  • Proven experience creating and adapting safety programs in dynamic, evolving environments.
  • OSHA certification required (OSHA 10/30 minimum; OSHA 500 a plus).
  • Formal HSE training or education is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel and long days on active project sites.
  • A collaborative communicator who balances authority with approachability.

Why Apply?

This is a chance to join a fast-growing sector at the forefront of the clean energy transition. You’ll be directly responsible for shaping safety culture on high-impact projects, while benefiting from competitive pay, strong travel support, and career growth opportunities within a forward-thinking organization.
