Senior Account Executive, REC/Carbon Sales

Piper Maddox is partnered with a leading climate and energy solutions provider that helps large organizations reduce emissions and meet ambitious sustainability goals. They are seeking a Senior Account Executive to join their North American team!

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy for assigned markets, identifying and prioritizing high-value enterprise opportunities
  • Prospect and generate leads through cold outreach, networking, and regional/national conferences (10–15% travel)
  • Manage complex, consultative sales cycles from initial engagement through contract close
  • Engage senior sustainability, energy, and procurement stakeholders to understand needs and deliver tailored solutions
  • Sell a suite of climate and renewable energy offerings, including RECs, carbon credits, RNG certificates, and renewable energy procurement/advisory services (PPAs/VPPAs)
  • Build strong business cases and negotiate commercial terms to close new business
  • Maintain and grow existing enterprise accounts through exceptional relationship management
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure service excellence
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and activity tracking in Salesforce
  • Stay current on renewable energy markets, climate solutions, industry trends, and competitive offerings

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of sales success with large national or enterprise customers (Fortune 1000 preferred)
  • 5+ years of B2B outside sales experience, consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • 3+ years selling to sustainability, energy, or ESG-focused executives and decision-makers
  • Experience selling RECs, carbon credits, renewable energy solutions, climate consulting, or adjacent services
  • Strong understanding of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and frameworks such as GRI, SBTi, and Net Zero standards
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build pipeline, and close new business (“hunter” mindset)
  • Excellent relationship-building and long-term account management skills
  • Passion for helping organizations achieve carbon reduction and renewable energy goals
  • Training or experience in value-based or solution selling preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, environmental science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Our client has been at the forefront of the renewable energy for over a decade and have built up an excellent reputation as one of the largest and most successful players in the space. This company are a fully fledged Independent Power Producer who focus on the development and delivery of utility scale Solar and Battery Storage projects. They have an excellent multi-GW development pipeline of projects as well as strong Gate2 notification results. They are in a position to now press on with their Greenfield development activity. They are looking to hire a Senior Development Manager to their team who will take on a mix of project focused and leadership responsibilities. Strong applicants for this role will have 5 and above years of experience in the development of renewable energy schemes in the UK industry. In this role, you would be responsible for: > The management of utility scale developments through from inception to the RTB stage before handing over to the construction team. > Management and mentoring of more junior members of the development team, as well as coordination with other internal planning, grid, and engineering teams. > Leading on landowner negotiations including heads of terms, option to lease agreements, and land access rights, as well as maintaining landowner relationships through the project lifecycle. > Ensuring commercial viability of a project including managing budgets, financial models, and keeping projects running to agreed timelines.
