Title: Electrical Engineer – Facility Power Systems (Cross-Voltage Focus)

Location: Chicago, IL – 5 days in office

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to own and integrate facility-wide power systems from end to end. This role requires a systems-oriented thinker who can design, coordinate, and implement electrical infrastructure across multiple voltage levels while ensuring seamless integration with mechanical, process, and plant operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver and independent contributor who takes full ownership of plant power systems, from utility interconnection through distribution, without relying on large support teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of plant-wide electrical power systems across all voltage levels
  • Own the complete electrical scope, from utility intake to facility distribution
  • Develop and manage:
    • One-line diagrams
    • Load flow and electrical studies
    • System layouts and distribution architecture
  • Design power systems from utility interconnection through final distribution within the facility
  • Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, process, and infrastructure components
  • Review, manage, and drive execution of electrical packages and project deliverables
  • Support new facility builds and major infrastructure upgrades
  • Ensure constructability and alignment with real-world installation constraints

Required Qualifications

Core Experience

  • 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience in industrial or heavy infrastructure environments
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing facility-wide power distribution systems
  • Proven ability to operate as a strong individual contributor with minimal oversight

Cross-Voltage Expertise (Critical Requirement)

  • Low voltage systems (e.g., 480V)
  • Medium voltage systems (4kV–15kV)
  • Exposure to or understanding of high-voltage systems, including substation interconnections

Systems & Infrastructure Expertise

  • End-to-end understanding of power flow: utility entry → distribution → operational support
  • Experience with:
    • Cable tray routing
    • Physical layout and space constraints
    • Power delivery pathing
    • Constructability considerations

Technical Capabilities

  • Ability to design at a system level—not just component-level engineering
  • Experience reviewing and coordinating complex electrical design packages
  • Strong integration mindset across disciplines (electrical, mechanical, process systems)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on nuclear projects (highly preferred)
  • Background in chemical or process plant environments
  • Demonstrated potential or interest in growing into a leadership or management role

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A plant power systems integrator who can fully own electrical infrastructure
  • A systems-level thinker who understands how power supports overall facility operations
  • A hands-on engineer comfortable solving problems independently
  • A cross-functional collaborator who bridges electrical systems with broader plant design

Compensation: $140,000 – $180,000 base salary
