Role: Operations Manager

Location: England, UK (Remote)

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a strong electrical engineering background, particularly in DC systems, to lead and optimize day-to-day operations across EV charging, solar PV, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of complex electrical infrastructure projects from planning through execution and handover.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership, operational oversight, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end operations for EV charging, solar PV, and BESS projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards

  • Lead field teams, subcontractors, and service partners across multiple sites

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes, procedures, and KPIs

  • Coordinate resourcing, scheduling, procurement, and logistics

Technical & Electrical Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership across DC electrical systems, including:

    • EV chargers (AC and DC fast chargers)

    • Solar PV systems (commercial / industrial scale)

    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

    • Switchgear, protection, inverters, and power distribution

  • Review and approve electrical designs, drawings, and specifications

  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex system and integration issues

  • Ensure all installations comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and grid connection requirements

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients

  • Support tendering, estimating, and technical input for new opportunities

  • Liaise with utilities, network operators, councils, and inspectors

  • Provide regular reporting on operational performance, risks, and outcomes

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture across all operations

  • Ensure compliance with H&S legislation, electrical safety standards, and company procedures

  • Conduct audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks

Financial & Commercial Oversight

  • Monitor project costs, margins, productivity, and resource utilisation

  • Identify operational efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong electrical background (trade-qualified and/or degree-qualified)

  • Proven experience with DC electrical systems

  • Hands-on experience delivering EV charging infrastructure, including DC fast charging

  • Experience with solar PV systems and BESS installations

  • Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, or senior site leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of electrical regulations, standards, and compliance

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation

Desirable Experience

  • Grid connection and commissioning experience

  • Experience integrating solar, BESS, and EV charging systems

  • Background in renewable energy or power infrastructure projects

  • Experience working with utilities and distribution network operators
