This is a high-impact role at a company that owns and operates its projects, giving you the opportunity to directly influence outcomes from concept through construction.

The Opportunity

You’ll bring precision and creativity to utility coordination, cost mitigation, and compliance, while also mentoring internal staff and improving documentation and processes as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Interconnection Strategy: Be the internal subject matter expert on interconnection standards, tariffs, and processes across multiple utilities and jurisdictions.
  • Utility Coordination: Interface directly with utility engineers to resolve issues, negotiate cost-effective solutions, and keep timelines on track.
  • Interconnection Package Management: Oversee the preparation, quality control, and submission of complete application packages, with support from third-party consultants.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal development, engineering, and finance teams to ensure interconnection planning is integrated into site selection and project design.
  • Training & Process Development: Build internal templates, training materials, and documentation workflows to elevate the team’s effectiveness.
  • Strategic Analysis: Monitor trends in approval timelines, upgrade costs, and queue positions to inform project viability and business strategy.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in solar PV or energy storage interconnection (C&I, community solar, or distributed utility-scale)
  • Deep knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC, and regional utility interconnection processes
  • Strong skills in SLD review, utility coordination, and document control
  • Familiarity with grid modeling tools (e.g., CYME, SKM, PSS/E) is a plus
  • Clear communicator who can interface with utilities and mentor internal teams

Ideal Backgrounds

  • Development engineering at a solar IPP or developer (with interconnection focus)
  • Utility-side interconnection engineers with experience in distributed generation
  • EPC or engineering consultants preparing interconnection applications across multiple regions
