Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – Solar PV & BESS

Location: Rome, Italy

Salary: €80,000 DOE

Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based with occasional travel

Piper Maddox are working with an established and fast-growing renewable energy developer who are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its technical team in Rome.

With a secured 700MW pipeline of Solar PV and BESS projects, and multiple assets entering construction this year, the business is entering a key delivery phase. The development team manages projects end-to-end — from land identification and technical design through permitting and EPC contract signing — using structured, proven processes that underpin long-term success.

The Role

You will lead the electrical design and preparation of technical documentation for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing STMG technical design activities and coordinating grid connection processes via Terna and E-Distribuzione portals.
  • Developing MV/HV layouts and single-line diagrams, defining connection strategies and confirming design solutions
  • Sizing and selecting key components (modules, inverters, trackers, etc.)
  • Supporting permit applications and delivering executive designs to resolve secondary permitting matters
  • Conducting feasibility studies, yield calculations, technical due diligence reviews and site inspections
  • Supporting and mentoring junior electrical engineers

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Energy Engineering
  • Experience designing photovoltaic systems
  • Strong knowledge of MV/HV authorization and grid connection procedures in Italy
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, QGIS, PVSyst, PVCase and MS Office
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
  • Fluent Italian and English
  • Availability for occasional travel

Desirable:

  • EPC or construction-site experience
